Projects that work for communities are built in partnership with communities.

JLA supports successful projects during many stages of development.

Long-term plans that go the distance

Sometimes we work on long-term plans that don’t see action for a while. But plans have a much better chance of becoming reality when they start with broad understanding and support, achieved through engagement and incorporation of diverse viewpoints.

  • The Washington Park Reservoir Improvements are an example of a project that worked hard to gain a solid foundation of public understanding and support, and were successfully completed after a decade of work.

Design and construction responsive to people

We support a lot of final design and construction outreach efforts, helping people understand what’s coming and helping teams respond to local needs. These project result in meaningful improvements for communities.

  • The OR 99E Canby project reached out to people to connect and collect input to improve the project design.

“As a direct result of the more than 400 responses received from Canby’s community, we added accessibility features and tailored communications to focus on the most pressing topics."

Helping teams work together

Sometimes JLA’s work is in the background. We help teams share information, break down silos, and collaborate better – resulting in more efficient and successful projects when they happen.

  • JLA supported Sabin CDC to develop a community engagement plan in support of an eco-livability funding application.
